HIGH IMPACT FUTURE LAB – Our design approach

LIID designs High Impact Future Labs to help COMPANIES? CITIES? UNIVERSITIES and CULTURAL PLACES tackle their future challenges with most beneficial foresight research methods and formats, and actually “craft the future” along the research.

FUTURE LAB PURPOSE: Our future labs can take different orientations and aims such as to help organizations to redefine their strategy, offer or purpose; innovate; train and open the mind of their team; mobilize internally and externally (future diplomacy); develop their local and global ecosystems; communicate; boost their thought leadership and influence; or support their investment strategy. The future lab process and method is adapted to fully serve the purpose. It can last from a day with a keynote or masterclass to open the future, to several months or years.

POSSIBLE METHODS: weak-signal research and future trends analysis, co-design of inspirational scenarios (including opportunities to grasp), conventional and customized foresight methods (scenario-planning, design fiction, etc.), future narrative, future world-building, future project design, creative prototyping, experiential staging, future task-force..

FORMATS (see examples in the video): keynotes, masterclasses, future trend report, foresight executive summary, future oriented brand content and publication, workshop, open-labs, research group, think-tank, future camp, future kit, creative prototype, exhibition, future expedition, pedagogic modules, academic and cultural projects, etc.. The formats are chosen according to the purpose of the future lab, the profile of people and stake-holder participating, and the means available to optimize benefits and sustainable impacts.

According to the method and the size of the lab, we train your teams and/or partner with complementary independent entities or structures (eg. web, digital, innovation event agencies, schools, cultural places, etc.) to be chosen locally.

ABOUT LIID FUTURE LAB

LIID Future Lab is a discreet future research platform developed by Raphaële Bidault-Waddington in 2000. Building upon her hybrid background of 25 years of forward-looking academic, artistic, economic and urban experiences (across 5 continents) and her passion for the world’s transformations, LIID has become a pioneer in both its foresight content and its inclusive and empowering research methodologies.

Different to conventional future-oriented think-tanks and institutes, LIID is more creative in its research content, formats, and methods, and is also more committed to helping active players experiment, conquer their future and take part in a resilient transformation of the world (purpose). From a HR point of view, this means adopting and sharing a renewed and future-oriented “lab culture”.

Unlike pragmatic innovation methods that do not provide content (deisgn-thinking, etc.), LIID Future Lab helps organizations understand current transformations (evolution of uses, representations and values, structural changes, imaginary metamorphosis, etc.) in all their complexity and design relevant future strategies.  LIID’s FUTURE LABs include a pedagogy that helps gain clarity, overcome blockages and uncertainties and open, with the necessary critical distance, a horizon of possible futures.
